How do you blog?

Source
Hello Friends~

Major hiatus... Major shocker...

So I've had major writer's block that may or may not continue, we shall have to see. But at least for today, I wanted to think about something outloud. How do you blog?

I personally dream of being a regular blogger with something wonderful and interesting to say and share everyday. Or even every week. Every month? Han are you still there? It's me, your lonely blog.

But I love to slowly glean ideas from other creative people out there. Like those who manage to organize their thoughts and share long paragraphs and delightful pictures. Or the people who share a blog with a friend and use it to communicate ideas. Or the ones who simply post a picture of a random happening in their day.

How about you? What are your favorites? How do you blog?

I blog sporadically. I too had dreams of sharing wit and wisdom on a daily basis but I discovered that I am neither witty nor wise every day so that idea tanked.

I re-evaluated. Who do I blog for? Myself or others? If I blog for others I will need to post consistently and write about the topics that my subscribers expect to read. Otherwise they will lose interest and move on. I know this because that's what I do. If I subscribe to a DIY blog and I see nothing but family vacation pictures for 2 weeks I'm outta there.

Obviously I blog for myself. I consider my blog to be sort of a journal. Sometimes it's DIY or crafty instructions. Sometimes it's family vacation pictures. Sometimes it's 12 paragraphs on what I had for breakfast Thursday morning.

My blogging style means I will never have a lot of followers and those who do follow me are mostly people that I know personally. I'm good with that. My goal is not to have 500 subscribers but to document and share what is going on in my life and to hone my writing skills in the process.

My current blog is my 4th or 5th one. I think I abandoned the others because I was trying too hard to stick to a theme and make them something that other people would want to read. The pressure to perform and please made me lock up and be unable to write anything at all.

So here's some advice from your (slightly) older friend: write whatever you want to and when you don't want to write, don't write. Life has enough pressure as it is, don't be pressured by your own blog.
